About Annika
I was born on the countryside in Schipluiden, the Netherlands. There we were surrounded by endless fields and many different animals. This is where my love for nature initially started. You could always find me outside building tree huts or walking through the mud.
When it was time for me to go to university I decided I wanted to become an osteopath. To do this I moved to Kent, England where I found beauty in the rolling hills nearby. This is where I first picked up a camera and started teaching myself how to use it. I began by helping out our student union by taking photos of the parties we hosted.
When I graduated, I decided to move even further away from home, Eastern Canada. I made amazing friends there that would take me on road trips and all sorts of fun adventures to explore the Canadian outdoors. As I grew up with fields, the foresty environment was very inspirational and it helped me explore my photography skills further.
Eventually I moved back home to the Netherlands, but my love for travel and adventure was at an all time high. On a trip to Iceland I took an incredible photo in one of the glacial ice caves. It turned out so extraordinarily beautiful that it ended up winning an award in the Dutch and Belgian National Geographic photo competition in 2019. The photo is printed in the December 2019 issue of the National Geographic magazine. More about this here.
Since Covid-19 arrived my job as an osteopath has been put on pause  indefinitely multiple times. This has given me the time and freedom to start my own photography business. I am now also available for portrait photography shoots and any photos you need taken for your business.
